ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC)- Rochester Institute of Technology welcomed an estimated 3,000 students and their parents Tuesday at the 2014 Freshman move-in day.

The RIT field house was packed with people, organizers and booths filled with information for the new students attending RIT this fall. Those 3,000 students are made up of new, international and transfer students. Students and their families moved into the residence halls, on the east side of campus.

Emily Hanley, a Student Orientation Coordinator said orientation week is one week of fun and festivities including multiple programs introducing the new students to RIT and Rochester.

"It's so much fun, they get an Orientation Assistant so they get to interact with current students,"Hanley said. "They get a ton of interesting sessions, informative things at night and a week of welcome events. We have a hypnotist coming and a comedian."

RIT's first day of classes is Monday, August 25.
