Regional Transit Service gets a makeover: Rochesterians react

- ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) -Public transportation in Rochester just got a whole lot brighter. RGRTA unveiled its new brand identity for RTS, its para transit service and the new colors on Tuesday at the RGRTA Administration Building.

Employee's and the media watched as Bill Carpenter, the CEO for RGRTA unveiled the new look and logo, which includes a bright green and blue facade.

RTS will continue to be the bus company's name, but from now on each transit authority's regional subsidiaries will be renamed RTS followed by the county name.

Carpenter said all new buses will have a blue and green exterior. The current fleet, which is made up of 450 buses and vehicles will have some changed to the new look while others will only be changed slightly.

"We'll make sure every bus has a consistent look," Carpenter said.

The new look also will come with new bus stop signs with the new logo, new uniforms for the bus staff, a new transit center, a new website, bus passes and new bus routes.

"Check us out. We have new transit apps for people to plan their journey for the Iphone and Droid," Carpenter said. "People can track the buses in real time too."

Many local residents said the buses will add a positive look to the city's streets.

"I think it makes our city look a little upscale and modern," Michelle Nobile said. "I like it."

The re branding took the marketing team a year and a half of planning and will cost a total of one million dollars.

The new bus transit center is expected to open on November 28 on Saint Paul Street in Rochester.
