More than 100 students flew colorful kites of all shapes and sizes, some more successfully than others, but teachers say they all have fun.
"Oh my gosh they're so excited," kindergarten teacher Erin Eder said. "All the way building up to kite day. They get a lot of exercise running around with their kites, seeing them up in the air, it's just a really special time for our community to be together."
Allendale Columbia School has been celebrating kite day annually for more than 40 years. Teachers turn the play time into a hands-on lesson in air resistance and climate changes.
