The Rochester Women's Giving Circle held their annual grant ceremony this morning.  This year, 11 out of 25 non-profit oganizations were chosen.  Grants ranged from $5,000 to $25,000 dollars per organization.  The organization is made up of 131 members.  Each member makes an annual donation of at least $1,000 dollars and that money goes to area programs that help women and girls out of poverity.

Amy Irish, the founding member of Rochester Women's Giving Circle, said, "Our mission is to provide economic independence for women and girls. So, we're looking at things like keeping girls in school, reducing teen pregnancy rate, programs that offer training, and leadership skills for women."

Rochester Women's Giving Circle was founded seven years ago.  Organizers say they've given away more than $600,000 in grant money to non-profits since their foundation.
