"The authorities that they recognize that are in uniform and they are not friendly. So they come here, afraid of uniforms, afraid of authority. So if an ambulance pulls up in a uniform and the driver hops out, they freeze. Especially when they don't know what to say, and the people that they're talking to do not understand them." said Fouder and Director of Mary's Place Kathy Labue.
Nepalese residents are no stranger to Mary's Place. Many spend days there learning their English, math and other skills.
