Hundreds of people turned out on Elm Street in Penn Yan throughout the day today for a benefit concert for those displaced by this spring's devastating floods.

Various bands took the outdoor stages for the concert named "Hashtag #pystrong2k14."  In late May, hundreds of homes were damaged when quick, heavy rain came pouring down on Penn Yan, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.  The folks of Penn Yan have shown they are resilient, and they came out today to give back to those who are still struggling.

"I mean this was thousands of dollars, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage.  In fact maybe, half a million to a million dollars maybe in some cases.  People were dragged out of their homes in the middle of the night.  The fire department had to come in.  Imagine waking up, having a hole being dug into your house, and having to take home to home to home once the water starts receding, and getting bigger, and larger, and stronger," organizer Dan Borrello said.

The all-day outdoor concerts ended at 9:30 tonight.
