Rochester, NY (WROC) - Community members are looking to solve some of the problems faced by area public schools.  That was the idea behind a new program launched by Writers and Books, along with communty partners.  The forum aims to answer questions about the public school system, including common core.  It will also compare local students with kids from around the globe.

"A lot of it is driven by this question of how do U.S. students stack up against students from around the world in other nations and that's a lot of what's being driven in terms of these educational structures being put on schools," said Joe Flaherty of Writer and Books.

The program will begin on September 10th.  There will also be community forums throughout the fall.
