This week is National Volunteer Week, and Foodlink is honoring those who give back to the community.

Rochester ranks #2 among US cities in volunteerism, and more than 35 percent of people volunteer locally.  National Volunteer Week is spearheaded by "Points of Light," the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service.  People at Foodlink say volunteers are critical to the daily operations at the food bank - and today, they say thank you.

"Without our volunteers, we wouldn't be able to repack food, sort food, and get backpacks out the door for our organizations, and people in need," said Foodlink Community Relations Manager Terra Keller.

To celebrate Volunteer Week, 40 students from the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at Saint John Fisher College volunteered at the Foodlink warehouse today for their own day of service.
