Tonight Hobart and William Smith College is responding to a New York Times article about how the college handled a rape case.

In the article, a student there shares the story of what happened after she reported she was raped on campus. Three football players were eventually cleared of wrongdoing after a twelve day internal investigation.

College president Mark Gearan today released a statement saying, "This is a difficult article to read, and for any student to be left with this perspective is disheartening.  Our primary concern is to provide the student with the opportunities and support she needs to have a successful experience when she returns to our campus this fall."

There is also a webpage on the college site addressing issues with the article.
