The camp aimed at making the game safer for kids. More than 50 youth football coaches headed to Victor High School for the USA Football "Heads Up" Player Safety Coach Clinic. Experts shared information about concussion awareness, hydration, equipment use, and safe tackling.
Organizers say it's a way to address parent concerns," You know, right now youth participation is down," Master Trainer USA Football Ken Stoldt said. "There's a concern out there about concussions in football, and what we're trying to do is minimize those risks and balance the risk/reward for kids and let parents understand that we are indeed trying to make this game as safe as we can," Stoldt said.
Coaches trained at today's camp will go on to train other coaches within their own organizations.
