Handicap signs in New York will officially be changing.  Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation to change the signs to show a person in motion instead of the traditional wheelchair bound character.  The word "hanicapped" will also be removed and will only use the word "accessible".
The changes only apply to new signs.
