A fire sent three residents of the Brightonian nursing home to the hospital last night.  Firefighters were called to the scene just after 11:00pm.  Fire officials say a small fire was contained to one resident's room but produced heavy smoke.  The building was evacuated as a precuation.  The three patients taken to the hospital were taken for smoke inhalation.  There were multiple ambulance crews on scene to assist with the residents.

Stephen MacAdam, the Brighton Fire Chief, said, "Biggest thing is to make sure all the residents are safe some of the residents are gonna go through and assess vitals and make sure it's safe for them to stay and make sure they have no injuries."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
