Golfers from around the Rochester area are taking the greens to raise money for breast cancer research. The Susan G. Kolman Rally for the Cure Charity Invitational kicked off this morning at Durand Eastman Golf Course. The tournament is held by the Durand Eastman Women's Golf Club. Over the years the club has lost some members to the illness and current members hope events like this could one day lead to a cure. Cheryl Holtz, a member of the cluib, said, ""I think they've made a lot of headway to solving and coming up with a cure. Ee just hope that continues and that we do have a cure in the future."
The American Cancer Society estimates 40,000 people died from breast cancer in the United States last year alone.
