McPartlan is touring the U.S. this spring to present the tales of six great legends of Irish Folk and Traditional Singing. These women are born from the beginning of the 1900's, including Elizabeth Cronin, Sarak Makem, Margarret Barry, Delia Murphy and sisters, Sarah and Rita Keane. (The last of this cherished group only recently passed away - Rita in May 2009 and Sarah in December 2010). Songs collected and recorded by Ms. McPartlan will be performed.
McPartlan will present her program on Irish Women in Traditional Music tonight at 7 at St. John Fisher College, Golisano Gateway Midlevel. The event is free and open to the public.
The program is presented by St. John Fisher College Irish Studies Program and the Rochester Chapter of the Irish American Cultural Institute.
