The center opened its five-floor in-patient unit. It will serve post-surgery cancer patients. The new floor features 28 private rooms and many light-filled spaces with panoramic views of Rochester. The rooms provides a home-like atmosphere for patients.
"I think we're at an age now in our culture where patients would like to recover from surgery in private; and this allows them the opportunity to do that," Dwight Hettler said.
The Wilmot Cancer Center has been expanding ever since it opened in 2008. The opening of the facility completes the addition of in-patient areas in the hospital.
