Parents, teachers and community members had a chance to weight in Tuesday night on how to improve Rochester city schools.

Dozens packed the district office where the Board of Education hosted a town hall. They presented the recommendations made by four special committees. The focus is on student achievement, student and community safety, parent engagement and poverty. Some parents we spoke to said the recommendations are important to make a better future for students.

Our children really need to know that they are our future and we are depending on them to be our next leaders, to be our next lawyers, teachers, preachers, doctors; and if we don't start to inspire them and show them that we believe them by standing up and showing them what we can do, because they watch us, we are their leaders, so if we show them that we can do better then they know they can do better," parent Tamayia Betts said.

The town hall was the second meeting held to discuss the recommendations.
