New York City officially welcomed a new mayor into office Wednesday. Former President Bill Clinton was on hand to swear in Bill De Blasio. Former U.S. Secretary of State and U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton also attended. De Blasio has worked for both Clintons. He is the city's first Democratic mayor in 20 years. He replaces Michael Bloomberg, who was an Independent.

The glittering ball has dropped in New York City's Times Square to usher in the new year and the cleanup has already begun. A sea of people from all over the world packed into Times Square in midtown Manhattan to see the crystal ball drop. Many of them arrived 12 hours or more in advance to watch the festivities. Afterwards, cleaning crews ascended to the square sweeping and bagging all of the trash left behind by millions of party-goers.
