Deputies say the Gary and Marcia Flemke had a history of marital problems. They had been called to their Livonia home before and say Marcia had talked about leaving her husband. The 58-year-old woman's body was found behind the home over the weekend. She had been shot multiple times. Gary Flemke was charged with evidence tampering, but Livingston County District Attorney Greg McCaffery expects more charges when the case is presented to a grand jury.
"He didn't show any signs of anything and it was just like out-of-the-blue," neighbor Mary Jo Douglas said.
Mary Jo Douglas says the Flemke's marriage did show signs of strain. She says Gary stayed with her and her husband for more than four weeks.
"My husband was shocked. His face dropped and he goes 'why did he do this,'" she said.
Deputies say the couple had been married for a while, but Marcia was recently considering filing for divorce.
"There were talks of a divorce pending, but nothing filed at this time that we can verify," Sheriff Tom Dougherty said.
Deputies say Gary Flemke legally owned the guns found in the couple's home. The investigation is ongoing. Gary is being held at the Livingston County jail on $250,000 bail.
