The day was created by the ASPCA. Locally, Lollypop Farm is celebrating the day by holding tack sales.
People in the community can donate gently-used items like grooming tools and blankets. Those items are then used to help the horses at Lollypop Farm.
People can also learn about horse adoptions. Lollypop reps say the need is great, especially since nearly a dozen horses were brought to the farm in an animal cruelty case last week.
Lollypop Farm plans to hold tack sales every month throughout October of this year, and it is accepting donations all year round.
