Researchers at UR Medicine are working to diagnose a rare form of cancer.

UR Medicine and the Wilmot Cancer Center have developed a new gene test to detect a type of bone marrow cancer. Researchers say the cancer is hard to spot, but they are working to pinpoint its cause.

"There can be long periods of frustration. People figured out why am I not well. We all know people who have been through that and there's so much relief to have an answer," professor Richard Burlack said.

Researchers say the bone marrow cancer is hard to diagnose because it often gets confused with other sicknesses.
