Superintendent Lynne Erdle is visiting schools looking at door locks. They have discovered the locks on all 900 classroom doors in the district lock from the outside and must be replaced. It could put teachers in danger if there was an intruder in the building and classrooms were locked down. The schools were built when safety was not a large issue.
"It wasn't a concern but we all know now it's a major concern in our nation and we need to address that for the safety of our students here," Erdle said.
Right now, they are figuring out how much it will cost to replace all the locks. The plan will be presented to the community and likely be a part of a capital project vote in the fall.
