The proposal would slash $1 billion of the taxpayer subsidies for commissionaries. That means a military family could see their food costs go up by $3,000 a year. The Pentagon would also cap military pay raises at one percent in 2015 and trim housing subsidies for families who do not live on a base. the cuts are part of a broader plan to make the armed forces leaner.
