A boil advisory remains in effect for a section of Genesee County residents due to contamination in several wells.

Officials say tests performed on 15 wells showed water contaminated with manure and E.coli. It is unknown how widespread the contamination is. Residents served by wells in the area of Batavia Oakfield Road and Lewiston Road are asked to boil the tap water in their home or use bottled water for drinking and cooking. If you notice anything strange or unusual about your water supply, call the Genesee County Health Department at (585) 344-2580 ext. 5525.
