Missouri Governor Sends National Guard to Ferguson

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has signed an executive order to deploy the National Guard to Ferguson, Missouri. This after another night of clashes with police over the shooting death of 18 year old, Michael Brown, one week ago. Police officers fired tear gas into the crowd as protesters hurled rocks in their direction.

On Sunday, former New York City Chief Medical Examiner, Michael Baden told the New York Times, Brown was shot at least six times, including twice in the head. The U.S. Justice Department now plans to conduct its own autopsy.

At a rally held at a church Sunday night, Brown's family called for justice while Captain Ron Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Police spoke about change.

"My heart is heavy. Yesterday was a tough day. You know, sometimes when you're trying to create change, you start having conflict with your friends," said Johnson.

Due to the unrest, all schools in the Ferguson-Florissant School District will be closed today.
