Lovely Warren Holds Annual Blood Drive

City Council President and Mayoral Candidate Lovely Warren honored her grandfather in a special way Saturday--at her annual Red Cross Blood Drive.

The event was held at the Keller Park Apartments on Seneca Manor Drive on the city's northeast side.

The blood drive is in honor of her grandfather, Cecil McClary, who was critically wounded by gunfire while working at Wegmans on West Avenue in 1984.

Without a blood transfusion, he would not be alive today.

Warren stated "I don't think many people realize they can save three lives by donating one pint of blood. I want the community to know we have an obligation and it's something we can do to give back."

Organizers say enough blood was collected to save 100 lives.
