Windstorm blasts through Perinton leaving many without power and trees down

Thousands without power

PERINTON, NY (WROC) - Thousands remain without power from a late day storm. The wind storm brought down trees and power lines.

The storm was as swift as it was fierce--it's exit surprising some even more than it's entrance.

Ken Frank lives on Kreag Road in Perinton, one of the areas hit the hardest.

"Twenty minutes or so a couple of blasts came through here and I didn't even notice at first then I saw that a tree was down on the road. " Frank said.

Many homeowners along Route 96 were without power. Rochester Gas and Electric crews worked around the clock to restore power. Tammy Lountine of Victor says she is not looking forward to a night without power.

"I don't like it this is the second time that I have had no power. Last time four nights in a row."

Many areas were flooded  from the violent downpour. Frank looks at the tree in his yard and  counts himself fortunate.

"Quite an experience honestly, my mom walked me through it but I got through it."
