Victor postal worker accused of stealing mail now faces drug charge

VICTOR, NY (WROC) - A Victor postal worker, charged last week with stealing mail, now faces a drug charge.

Forty-five-year-old James Ludwig, of Fairport, was charged last week with stealing mail while working at the Victor Post Office. Federal investigators said they observed him taking gift cards envelopes and removing the contents inside. They added they also observed the postal worker snorting a white substance.

Monday, troopers announced Ludwig had been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

State police say troopers were on-hand when Ludwig was arrested for stealing mail on January 12. During the arrest, investigators say they found Ludwig was in possession of morphine.

Ludwig was officially charged with the crime at his home in Fairport. He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Victor Town Court on February 8.
