UPDATE: Man found injured lying on I-490 dies

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) -

UPDATE (Oct. 19):

The 24-year-old man who was found seriously injured lying on I-490 has died, according to Strong Memorial Hospital officials.

Tabarri Goins had been on life support at Strong.

UPDATE (Oct. 18):

Investigators say new footage shows 24-year-old Tabarri Goins climbing onto the back of a milk truck while it was stopped at a red light.

On the video, white sneakers are shown climbing onto the back of the truck -- just prior to a 911 call police received about Goins lying in the road.

"Luckily we do have a lot of cameras in the area, that's to our benefit," New York State Police Capt. Carolyn Mullin said. "The one with the milk truck was actually a DOT camera at the intersection. It just took hours to review these cameras and try to place his whereabouts."

Goins is currently on life support at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Police believe the severe head injury Goins suffered was caused by him falling or jumping from the truck.

PREVIOUS STORY (Oct. 15):

New York State Police have identified the man found seriously injured lying on I-490 as Tabarri Goins.

At around 3 a.m. Sunday, Goins, 24, was found on I-490 westbound, near the Brown Street entrance ramp. He is currently in critical condition at Strong Memorial Hospital after suffering a skull fracture.

Investigators said Goins was leaving a family member's house and crossed the highway to go to his house he shared with his girlfriend.

While they are not ruling anything out, troopers said there is no indication that Goins was hit by a car -- there was no debris at the scene.

Police said they have looked at video of cameras in the area and have spoke to friends and family members of Goins. It took police several hours to identify Goins because he had no ID or cell phone on him.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call State Police at 585-279-8891.
