WATERLOO, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - State Police are investigating after a woman in Waterloo says she was scammed.
The woman told police that a man claiming to be with JCS Contracting came to her house and offered to cut down a tree for $300. She eventually agreed and paid him a $100 deposit.
She says he returned saying he needed more money for tools so she gave him another $200, but he never returned.
"That tree's still there and if does fall I'm not sure my insurance people are going to pay for it because they told me a couple of years ago if you've got a dead tree it's up to you to take it down," said Barbara Burnett.
A report against JCS Contracting has also been filed with the Better Business Bureau.
