Rochester Police Locust Club raises over $12K for hurricane victims

Check presented to American Red Cross

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - The Rochester Police Locust Club raised thousands of dollars for victims of Hurricane Maria. 

A check was presented to the Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross during a ceremony Thursday. 

Members raised $12,500 by hosting a softball tournament and partnering with BigCity Sportswear to have special t-shirts printed for sale.

"This really goes to show you that when the need arises the people from Greater Rochester step up," said Executive Director of Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross James Love. "It's corporations and organizations and again, great folks like the Rochester Police Department, they're really stepping up to assist the American Red Cross with relief efforts that we have to provide

Several Rochester police officers were directly impacted by Hurricane Maria and the devastation on the island of Puerto Rico.
