Police: 1 dead, 3 seriously injured in Webster crash

Three people suffer serious injuries.

WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - UPDATE: 

Webster Police have released the identity of the victim in the three-car crash that took place on Holt Road. 

Police say Richard S. Maas, 71, of Webster,  died from injuries sustained in the crash. 

According to police, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

ORIGINAL: 

Police are responding to a fatal crash in the area of Shoemaker and Holt Roads in Webster.

Webster police say one person has died. Three people were transported to Strong Hospital with serious injuries. 

In total, three cars and six people were involved in the accident. 

"The Webster Police Department responded to a crash at the corner of shoemaker and Holt Road in the Town of Webster," said Police Chief Joe Rieger. "At this point we're still investigating the crash. We have some technicians and the crash unit coming. At this point we do have 1 fatality. It's still initial and beginning stages of this investigation." 

Holt Road will be shut down between Wall and Brown for a few hours, according to police. Drivers should avoid the area.
