Police carry out massive investigation on Monroe Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Rochester and New York State police carried out a massive investigation in the area of Monroe Avenue and Woodlawn Street overnight Thursday.

The Rochester Police Department say that the State Police are handling the investigation, but the RPD mobile command unit, Chief Michael Ciminelli, and around two dozen police cars were all on scene.

Monroe Avenue was closed off between South Goodman Street and Meigs Street until just before 3:00 a.m. That's when a car was towed from the scene.

State Police left the area without speaking to the media and have yet to provide any information about the massive response.

This is a developing story. News 8 will provide the latest updates as they become available.
