COLESVILLE, N.Y. - The mother of the ten-year old who was found dead in in a Colesville home is facing charges for not taking care of her remains.
Thirty-one-year old Serina Madden has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
According to court documents, Madden knew the child was dead and didn't address the removal of her body from the home.
In addition she allegedly allowed her two-year old daughter and nine-year-old son to play and sleep in the same room with the dead child.
Last week, police responded to a 911 call and discovered ten-year-old Belladonna Loke dead in a home on East Windsor Road in the Town of Colesville.
While the cause of death is still being investigated, police say the child suffered from a serious medical condition and was staying at the home with relatives since December.
Madden was released from Broome County Jail after posting bail.
