New Yorkers vote to reject the constitutional convention

(WROC-TV) - The constitutional convention was overwhelmingly voted down on Tuesday.

With most of the state’s election precincts reporting, “No” voters had easily defeated the ballot measure, known as proposal one, with more than 80 percent of the vote.

Every 20 years voters in New York State have a chance to vote on making changes to the state constitution through the constitutional convention.

The last state constitutional convention was back in 1967. New Yorkers voted no against it when they had a chance in 1997.
