Monroe County to hold 'Pistol Permit Saturdays'

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Monroe County will hold special hours for processing pistol permit transactions on Saturdays throughout the month of December.

The additional hours at the Clerk's Office will give pistol permit holders the opportunity to add or remove firearms, update addresses, request a plastic card conversion, and complete other transactions.

The Clerk’s Office will offer three 'Pistol Permit Saturdays' on Dec. 9, 16, and 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the County Office Building located at 39 W. Main St.

Pistol permit holders are reminded that all permits issued prior to Jan. 15, 2013 need to be recertified by Jan. 31, 2018.

The recertification process requires permit holders to verify their information on the NYS Troopers website. Paper forms are also available at the Clerk’s Office.

If submitting by mail, the State Police strongly recommend using certified mail.

For permits issued after January 15, 2013, the permit will need to be recertified every five years after the issuance date printed on the card.
