Local nurses head to Puerto Rico to treat hurricane victims

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-T.V.) - Several URMC nurses are on their way to Puerto Rico to help care for victims of Hurricane Maria.

Seven RNs, two NPs and one LPN departed from the Rochester International Airport Tuesday morning. A doctor left Monday night. 

Teams of health care workers from across the state have been traveling to Puerto Rico in two week shifts. This is the first group sent by URMC. 

Only 20% of Puerto Rico currently has power.
