Local Irish community holds hurricane fundraiser for Puerto Rico

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - More than a month after the Hurricane Maria made landfall, people across the nation are continuing to provide relief for those on the island of Puerto Rico.

That includes folks right here in Rochester.

On Sunday, the Salvation Army and members of the local Irish community partnered for a hurricane relief benefit.

It took place at Caverly's Irish Pub, where people brought their talent to the stage for a good cause.

"I feel so good about doing this for people that I feel a little guilty for feeling so good for doing this for people," said event coordinator Eamon McCormick. "You know we always expect somebody else to do it but sometimes it's nice to step in when you can and help."

McCormick added that no matter how much the event raised, it won't be enough to help those in need.
