Former Manchester town justice charged with grand larceny

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - An Ontario County grand jury has indicted a former town justice on multiple charges.

Erika Martin, 45, of Manchester, is charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, scheme to defraud in the first degree, four counts of petit larceny, and two counts of issuing a bad check.

The charges are a result of crimes that were discovered in the personal and business accounts of Martin during the investigation into missing fine money from the Town of Manchester fine account when she was employed as town justice.

Deputies say several area financial institutions lost money as a result of Martin's actions of kiting checks between various bank accounts that she held in 2016.

Martin was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. She will appear in Ontario County Court on Dec. 20.
