The proposed budget includes $19 million for child protective services. The money will go towards hiring 30 new CPS caseworkers and a pay increase for current case workers.

This is a direct response to John Geer's call for the county to do more in the wake of his granddaughter Brook Stagles death.

The proposal also provides for faster toxicology reporting in the medical examiner's office in response to the national opiod epidemic.

The proposal also keeps theMonroe County property tax rate flat at $8.99 per $1,000 of assessed value.
