Deputies: Woman putting gas in car struck, killed in North Dansville

NORTH DANSVILLE, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - A Steuben County woman was killed in a car-pedestrian accident on State Route 63 in North Dansville Wednesday.

At around 6:45 p.m., State Police say a southbound vehicle ran out of gas and became disabled and was parked partially in the southbound lane without any hazard lights on. 

Shawn Martinez, a 44-year-old woman from Wayland, was putting gas in her vehicle when she was struck by a southbound vehicle. Martinez was pronounced dead at Noyes Memorial Hospital.

A second person from the disabled vehicle, 28-year-old Joshua Clark, of Wayland, was not injured.

Deputies say the driver of the car that struck Martinez, 20-year-old Payton Rider, of North Cohocton, was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
