Deputies respond to two-car crash in Hopewell

Teen flown to Strong with head injury

HOPEWELL, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Emergency crews responded to a serious crash at the intersection of Smith Road and County Route 46 in the Town of Hopewell Wednesday morning.

Investigators say 18-year-old Ian Park, of Union Springs, was driving south on Smith Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a car driven by 73-year-old Dennis Hart, of Clifton Springs, who was traveling west on County Route 46.

Hart's car continued off the shoulder and struck a tree and flower bed in front of a home on County Route 46. Park's car also struck the front steps of the same home.

Park was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for a head injury.

Hart and passenger, 71-year-old Susan Hart, were both taken to Clifton Springs Hospital with complaints of pain.

Park was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield the right of way. He will appear in the Town of Hopewell at a later day to answer to the charges.
