Crime Stoppers donates to local K-9 units

The initiative offers financial support for veterinary expenses

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - It was a good day for local K-9 units. Crime Stoppers presented $1,500 to various K-9 units.

The Crime Stoppers K-9 initiative offers financial support for veterinary expenses for sick or injured K-9's in our community.

Rochester Police Department's K-9 rocky is undergoing cancer treatment for a malignant leg tumor.

He was just one of the dogs who has benefited from Crime Stoppers, and his partner, Officer Patrick Carney, is grateful for the help.

"It's a huge deal, it helped out a lot,” said Carney. “I would like to thank Crime Stoppers. He's a partner. I'm with him 24 hours a day and at home he's a pet, and when I put the uniform on, he's ready to go to work."

Crime Stoppers is funded entirely by private donations, business contributions and grants.
