ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Former Rochester Chamber of Commerce President Sandy Parker will lead the team to get a planned performance arts center built at Parcel 5, city officials announced Tuesday.
City officials also released updated renderings for the project.
The city says updated plans for the project will include a rooftop area for performances, more green space and a movie theater that may be modeled after IMAX theaters.
City officials also told reporters that $90 million in funds towards the $135 million project have been secured. Those funds include a donation by Tom Golisano -- who the performing arts theater will be named after -- and funds from developer Bob Morgan.
With Parker on board, the city believes they can secure the remainder of the funding for the project.
"This is more than just a parcel. This is about the future of Rochester," Mayor Warren said Tuesday.
