ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - UPDATE (4:15 p.m.): Police say the body found in the Genesee River has been positively identified as Trevyan Rowe.
ORIGINAL: A vigil is planned for Monday night after a body was recovered during the search for missing Rochester teen Trevyan Rowe.
Rowe was reported missing Thursday afternoon after he took the bus to school, but never went inside.
Hundreds of volunteer searched through the weekend, hoping to find Trevyan. Sadly, Sunday evening, a body matching Trevyan's description was found in the Genesee River. Again, crews said the body appears to belong to Trevyan, but police were waiting on a positive ID.
However, early Monday morning, the missing person alert for Trevyan was cancelled. AustismUp has also planned a vigil for Trevyan.
The candlelight vigil is set for Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena. Members of the public are invited to attend. News 8 will also carry a live stream of the vigil on our website and on Facebook.
“This evening we will join parents, neighbors and a community united to protect our community’s most vulnerable children.” said Sarah Milko, Executive Director of AutismUp in a statement. “This is every parent’s worst nightmare and we want to continue to support one another through this terrifying situation.”
A GoFundMe has also been launched for Trevyan's family to help pay for funeral costs.
