Brockport Police investigate attempted assault on an officer

BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - The Brockport Police Department has reported that on Sunday, at 12:50 a.m., an officer stopped a car traveling southbound on Main Street/Monroe Avenue for a loud exhaust.

According to the police department, the officer approached the operator and observed a case of Twisted Tea, an alcoholic beverage in the passenger seat.

Police say the operator, Brandon W. Antram, 25, appeared to be reaching to get his registration out of the glove box when he put his 1998 Honda in gear and took off west on Monroe Avenue. Being stopped at the intersection of Monroe Avenue and Main Street, Antram had to swing his vehicle out towards the officer in order to make the turn onto Monroe Avenue. In doing this the vehicle shoved the officer backwards.

Police say another Brockport officer was with the officer that was hit at the time and the two pursued Antram west on Monroe Ave where Antram turned into the East parking lot of the Tower of Fine Arts, 180 Holley Street.

Police say it’s assumed Antram thought he could get out on Erie Street because he raced through the parking lot and hit a tree head on.

Officers say Antram then fled on foot and was taken into custody by Brockport Police Officers behind 184 Erie Street.

According to police, Antram was transported to Strong where he consented to a blood test and is currently being treated by medical personnel.

Police say Antram will be charged with DWI and other vehicle and traffic charges along with criminal charges.
