The most successful season in RIT hockey history came to an end in the Motor City on Thursday, as the underdog Tigers were blitzed by the badgers of Wisconsin. The final score was 8 to 1.

The first game of the Frozen Four was never close, as Wisconsin scored within the first minute of the game. The highly-seeded Badgers added five more goals before a Tyler Brenner goal finally got Rochester Institute of Technology on the board.

A large section of the stands at the cavernous Ford Field was orange, as thousands of fans of the upstart RIT program made the 5 1/2 hour trip to Detroit.

Though few of the fans thought a run at an NCAA championship was possible before the year started, the 5-year-old program has made incredible strides. RIT has earned the respect of the hockey world and made a lot of new fans in Rochester. The hope is that this incredible and unexpected season will be a springboard for future success.
