Irondequoit Requesting Judicial Intervention Over Medley Centre Code Violations

- The town of Irondequoit is looking to take Bersin Properties to court over code violations it says he has not fixed.

The town's fire marshal filed information with the town court explaining several code violations at the Medley Centre property. Supervisor Adam Bello tells News 8 that Bersin Properties was cited back in February after combustible materials were found inside the building and the sprinkler system was determined to be inoperable. Bello says Bersin Properties was given specific instructions about how to go about fixing the problems, but the development company did not adhere to those instructions. The filing is the latest in the struggle between frustrated town officials and the seemingly-neglectful developers over the stagnant Medley Centre project.

Bersin Properties and developer Scott Congel responded Thursday afternoon in a letter, saying Bello has missed meetings and would not return phone calls to get the project moving. Bello says the court will likely issue a summons and call for a court appearance. That appearance could happen sometime in April.
