The perfect workout

Fitness expert Jodi Stern of Pilates Plus discussed important steps to maximizing your workout Tuesday morning on New 8 at Sunrise.

Stern said you don't have to feel the burn to get a great workout.  While it's important to build muscle strength, she said if you're too sore to workout over the next couple of days you're not getting important repetitions.

She also emphasized building strength in your body's smaller muscle groups to support the larger muscles.  For example, crunches for your smaller abdominal muscles will help your neck and back.
