RCT Artistic Director Danny Hoskins, who plays Shrek, and Mary Tiballi Hoffman, who plays Fiona, discussed the show Friday on News 8 at Sunrise.
"Shrek The Musical" is based upon the Oscar-winning film. It turns the traditional fairy romance on its ear, with the ogre getting the beautiful girl. Hoskins said it's the most ambitious production undertaken by the RCT, with a cast of 25 actors and numerous special effects, puppetry and prosthetic make-up effects.
The musical is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The goal of RCT is to introduce children to the theatre, and create a memorable experience that brings them back time and again. Hoskins hopes children can learn about the different themes of the story and have it stimulate conversation with parents and friends.
