Terra Keller, Foodlink's Community Relations Manager, discussed the event Friday on News 8 at Noon.
The Muxy Ski-Off is named in honor of local ski pioneer and philanthropist Gary Muxworthy, who passed away two years ago. Muxworthy used sports as a conduit for his philanthropic efforts and that's exactly what the Muxy Ski-Off hopes to accomplish. The charity ski event will feature a race, optional poker run, as well as food and drinks. There will also be live music during the event, which runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
All proceeds benefit Foodlink, the regional food bank and its dozens of hunger-related programs. Foodlink provides food, nutrition, education and resources in Central and Western New York. As a member of Feeding America, Foodlink rescues and redistributes over 16 million pounds of food to 500 human service agencies. Foodlink's mission is to end hunger and to leverage the power of food to build a healthier community.
